SourceLink® Model Powers New U.S. Entrepreneurial Region West Alabama-East Mississippi Regional Initiative Launches
Kansas City Missouri (November 29, 2007) --- Kansas City-based U.S.SourceLink announces the launch of its newest affiliate, the West Alabama-East Mississippi (WAEM) Regional Initiative.
The Web-based SourceLink model enables this 37-county region in rural Alabama and Mississippi to connect its entrepreneurs, communities and service provider organizations. A proven, cost-effective model, SourceLink links business development resources to each other and to the small businesses and entrepreneurs that need them.
Consultative expertise is at the heart of the SourceLink model. Direct consulting services are backed up with six how-to implementation guides. The Resource Navigator® and WebPlate Now!™ provide the central Web presence and entrepreneurial resource connections. Biz-Trakker®, a versatile Web-based product, manages client relationships.
The SourceLink model has a proven track record of delivering to local communities. It is at the core of KCSourceLink, which serves the 18-county Kansas City region in both Missouri and Kansas, and NetWork Kansas, which connects the entire state of Kansas. SourceLink also powers The Urban Entrepreneur Partnership, currently operating in Kansas City, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Milwaukee.
“SourceLink is a key component to the West Alabama/East Mississippi Regional Initiative’s strategy to link rural entrepreneurs to the scattered regional resources available to them to start and grow their business. The off-the-shelf capabilities of SourceLink combine with the staff’s knowledge, professionalism and can-do attitude to make the WAEM network tangible,” says Christian B. Reed, Associate Director, WAEM Regional Initiative. WAEM’s vision is to transform a mostly rural collection of people and places into an enterprising region known for its innovative programs in entrepreneurship, workforce development, and wealth creation. The initiative launches with a two-day entrepreneurship conference in Meridian, Mississippi on November 29 and 30.
###KCSourceLink was the first implementation of the SourceLink model. It was developed in 2003 by The University of Missouri-Kansas City, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the U.S.Small Business Administration.
U.S.SourceLink is a program of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, The Bloch School, University of Missouri-Kansas City.
