Metro New Orleans SourceLink Opens for Business

Posted Apr 02, 2011
Metro New Orleans SourceLink launched recently with a goal of spurring the growth of small businesses and startups in the metropolitan New Orleans area.

After completing a gap analysis of their entrepreneurial ecosystem through a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), New Orleans started shopping for a solution that would bridge their services and link their technical assistance providers. They had thought about building their own web portal from scratch when they found U.S.SourceLink®.

“U.S.SourceLink was already doing exactly what we were looking for,” said Kara Renne, economic director of economic development at the Regional Planning Commission for Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes. “We see U.S.SourceLink as a key tool in our entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

The Metro New Orleans SourceLink web portal and The Resource Navigator® will provide vital business-building resources and information to entrepreneurs and technical assistance providers, said Renne, helping to supply data and build bridges between services and business. Both will be supported by a telephone hotline, 504-280-1326..

New Orleans is launching its program in partnership with the University of New Orleans and has received strong support from the U.S. EDA and Louisiana Economic Development.
